Chronics 2014 is Open Now!

CHRONICS 2014 is a design product competition based on ergonomics and innovation which is held by Himpunan Mahasiswa Mahasiswa Teknik Industri (HMTI) Universitas Gadjah Mada. CHRONICS has been successfully held for six times in the national level named Product Design Competition. And now, Chronics will challenge undergraduate students from all over country of South East Asia region to participate in CHRONICS 2014.
The outline of CHRONICS 2014 can be divided into 3 parts:
  1. Qualification Round
  2. In the qualification round, the team that will join the competition must send a mini-proposal to the committee. The mini-proposal contains a brief product description along with the advantages and also the innovative and ergonomics point of view.
  3. Semifinal Round
  4. The Semifinals will be held in Yogyakarta. Semifinal round will be followed by top 15 teams that get through from the qualification round. This round is mainly about the product presentation and prototype test.
  5. Final Round and Expo
  6. The final round will be held in Yogyakarta, and the Expo will be followed by the top 15 teams that will exhibit their product design and have the opportunity to communicate the product to a wide audience. In the Final Round, there will be announced the best 7 teams to participate in the next challenge which are revised product presentation and challenge on attracting investors.

" Traveling Kit for Long Duration Trip "

Background

The increasing development of Traveling kit around this day make Traveling for human much more easier. Therefore , the needs of supporting kits and items for human to support their trip start to emerging. Either for Holiday trip, or bussiness trip, weather by flight, cruise or road trip.
Request for practical but beneficial supporting Kits and items to support the trip start increasing day by day. Hence, the requirement of innovation to create kits for traveling also starting to increase. Focusing on long duration trip that require kits that provide comfort, ergonomics, functional and has a large capacity of belonging for the rest of the trip.
Based on the facts above, we chose to use ”Traveling Kit for Long Duration Trip” for the theme of Chronics 2014. From this theme, we expect for some innovation, idea and a new creation that will supporting the development of modern people’s lifestyle. Certainly, in this case, the creation of marketable and promising products will be so much appreciated.

Theme’s Limitation:


  1. Traveling: an activity to move from one place to another.
  2. Traveler does not have age limitation and does not have any physical disability.
  3. Traveling kit : an equipment or a set of equipments which helps travelers to ease their journey.
  4. Long duration trip : minimum duration is 5 hours traveling continously.

    Registration Procedure


    1. Participants download the file that contains Guidelines for Preparation and Submission of Mini Proposals, statement of design authenticity, and Statement of Change in Ownership from website http://chronics.ft.ugm.ac.id
    2. Participants must transfer registration fee IDR 300.000 before registration online on website http://chronics.ft.ugm.ac.id
    3. Participants register online on website http://chronics.ft.ugm.ac.id before 5th of June 2014.
    4. Scanned receipt of payment and student or identity card should be uploaded in pdf file format during registration online.
    5. Statement of Design Authenticity, and Change in Ownership Statement must be signed by the team’s chief and validated by materai 6000 (for Indonesia) or another validation stamp, and then attach them on the mini proposal in zip or rar file format and sent it to chronics@ugm.ac.id before 29th of June 2014. *format of the file name is TEAM’S NAME_UNIVERSITY
    6. Top 15 Teams that get through the qualification round will be announced in September and they should transfer 3.000.000 IDR/team for the accommodation during the competition in Yogyakarta.
